  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Turns in quality start

Mikolas allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two over six innings in a no-decision in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader versus the Royals. Mikolas was pushed back a day after Wednesday's game was postponed due to weather. He's earned a quality start in three of his last four outings, though he didn't get any run support during his time on the mound Thursday. He also allowed a home run for the fourth time in six starts, though Mikolas has generally found success by keeping the ball down this year. The 36-year-old right-hander is now at a 3.96 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 36:17 K:BB through 61.1 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start during a home series versus the Blue Jays.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Wednesday's start rained out

Mikolas and the Cardinals won't face the Royals on Wednesday, as the game was postponed due to rain, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Wednesday's game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday, and Mikolas will likely take the mound at some point during the twin bill. The veteran right-hander has already made a start against the Royals this season, during which he twirled six shutout innings while giving up just two hits and two walks while striking out four batters on May 17.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Gets early hook in no-decision

Mikolas did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Orioles, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks with three strikeouts over four innings. Mikolas gave up three runs in the third inning and was pulled at 72 pitches after allowing another run in the fourth. Wednesday marked his shortest outing since April 6 and snapped a solid run of eight consecutive starts yielding three earned runs or fewer. The veteran owns a 3.90 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 34:16 K:BB across 55.1 innings while exceeding 80 pitches in just five of 11 starts this season. He is slated for a home matchup with the Royals next week.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Six strong innings in fourth win

Mikolas (4-2) notched the win Friday against the Diamondbacks after allowing one run on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out four. It was the third time this season that Mikolas hurled six innings, and he's given up one run or fewer in each of these instances. Additionally, the veteran right-hander has conceded greater than three runs on just one occasion in 2025, albeit during a nine-run implosion in his second start of the year that left a huge mark on his ratios. His lack of strikeout stuff will likely continue to limit his overall fantasy potential, but Mikolas still owns a quality 3.51 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 31:16 K:BB ahead of his next scheduled outing against the Orioles.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Fires six scoreless frames

Mikolas (3-2) earned the win Saturday, allowing two hits and two walks over six scoreless innings against Kansas City. He struck out four. Mikolas generated just three whiffs but worked efficiently, as he needed only 76 pitches (50 strikes) to get through six innings. It's the second quality start of the year for the right-hander, and he's gone 3-0 with a 1.30 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 16:8 K:BB across 27.2 frames in his past five starts. A home matchup with the Diamondbacks likely waits for him next weekend.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Cruises to second win

Mikolas (2-2) earned the win Sunday at Washington, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five. Mikolas looked solid again, as the only blemish on his line was a Nathaniel Lowe solo homer in the fourth. The St. Louis right-hander fired only 69 pitches in this outing, and the Cardinals have found success deploying Mikolas in shorter stints. Across his last five starts, the 36-year-old has pitched to a 2.05 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB over 26.1 innings. Mikolas currently lines up to take his next turn in the rotation at Kansas City next weekend.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Blanks Reds for first win of 2025

Mikolas (1-2) picked up the win in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Reds, scattering three hits over 5.1 scoreless innings in a 6-0 victory. He struck out four without walking a batter. The veteran right-hander finally got into the win column with a razor-sharp performance. Mikolas tossed 52 of 77 pitches for strikes, although he faded a couple outs short of his second straight quality start. A rough outing in Boston on April 8 is still marring his overall ratios, but over his last four starts, Mikolas sports a 2.14 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB over 21 innings. He lines up to make his next trip to the mound at home early next week against the Pirates.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Game postponed Tuesday

Mikolas won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Reds since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, John Denton of MLB.com reports. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Wednesday, with Mikolas likely to start one of those games. The veteran right-hander delivered six scoreless frames in his previous start but has a 5.70 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB over 23.2 innings this season.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Chased by Mets in fifth inning

Mikolas didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Mets after allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out one. Despite allowing at least one baserunner in three of his first four innings he pitched, Mikolas was able to put up zeroes through four. The Mets chased him from the game in the fifth, however, as Tyrone Taylor tripled and Juan Soto singled to drive in one run apiece. The soft-throwing right-hander doesn't exhibit much strikeout upside, as evidenced by his 11 punchouts through 17.2 innings to go with an unsightly 7.64 ERA and 1.58 WHIP this season, so Mikolas won't project as an appealing fantasy option in next week's scheduled start at home against Milwaukee.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Stuck with loss Saturday

Mikolas (0-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over five innings as the Cardinals were downed 4-1 by the Phillies. He struck out five. It was a respectable bounce-back effort from Mikolas after he got tagged for nine runs (eight earned) in only 2.2 frames by the Red Sox in his last trip to the mound, but a lack of run support kept the veteran right-hander out of the win column. Mikolas will take a 9.00 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB through 13 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend against the Mets.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Takes no-decision in season debut

Mikolas did not factor into the decision Monday against the Angels, pitching 5.1 innings while allowing two runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out three. The grizzled veteran entered this outing on the heels of a solid 19.2 innings in the Grapefruit League, pitching to a 3.66 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. Mikolas limited the Angels to two singles and two free passes, allowing both runs on sacrifice flies. The 36-year-old will struggle to produce many strikeouts, as his K/9 has not been above 7.0 since 2019, but he could be viable in deeper leagues if he can limit hard contact and walks. Mikolas will look to continue the respectable work from this appearance in his next start, currently slated to be at Boston this weekend.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Covers five innings Wednesday

Mikolas limited the Mets to one run on five hits and one walk over five innings Wednesday in Grapefruit League action. Mikolas was facing a Mets lineup that featured most of their regulars, and he put together a solid effort, getting his pitch count up to 73 and limiting the damage to just an RBI single from Francisco Lindor in his final inning of work. The 36-year-old righty has made at least 32 starts in three straight seasons, but over the last two years his ERA sits at an unsightly 5.04. He is guaranteed a spot in the Cardinals' Opening Day rotation.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Grabs 10th win

Mikolas (10-11) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday. Mikolas had a bumpy season at best, but he ended the year allowing a modest six runs over his last 16 innings, earning two wins with a 12:1 K:BB over that three-start span. He was able to contain the damage to the second inning Friday, and the Cardinals took the lead for good in the fourth. This is the third time in his career Mikolas has reached the 10-win mark, but he did it with a 5.35 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 122:25 K:BB over just 171.2 innings in 32 starts this year.

Mikolas (9-11) earned the win over Cleveland on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four batters over six innings. Mikolas pitched well in the contest, throwing 59 of 81 pitches for strikes and limiting the Guardians to a single run on a fifth-inning Bo Naylor homer. The right-handed hurler recorded only six whiffs but succeeded by getting ahead of hitters, throwing 17 of 22 first pitches for strikes. Saturday's victory was his first over his past 10 outings, and it was just his third quality start during that span.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Yields two runs

Mikolas allowed two runs on three hits over five innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four during the loss to Toronto. Mikolas worked through four shutout innings before coughing up a two-run shot to Davis Schneider in the fifth. Mikolas has failed to complete six innings in four straight starts, posting a brutal 8.10 ERA during that stretch. He hasn't earned a win since July 21 and owns a 6.80 ERA in nine outings since then. Mikolas will carry a 5.49 ERA into his next matchup, which is projected to be at home against the Guardians.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Overcomes shaky start Tuesday

Mikolas came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Padres, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out three. The veteran righty appeared to be headed for another rough outing when San Diego jumped on him for four runs in the second inning, but Mikolas shook it off and left the mound after 93 pitches (63 strikes) with St. Louis having taken a 5-4 lead. The Cards' bullpen couldn't get him his ninth win of the year, however. Mikolas has been tagged for at least four runs in four of five August starts, leaving him with an ugly 6.39 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB through 25.1 innings on the month. He's scheduled to make his next trip to the mound on the road early next week in Milwaukee.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Rights ship with scoreless outing

Mikolas did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings against the Brewers. He struck out three. Mikolas held the Brewers in check, allowing merely one walk after the first inning during one of his most effective outings of the season. He entered Thursday's contest having allowed 25 runs in 31 innings (7.26 ERA) over his last six starts but kept the Brewers off the board in posting his first quality start since July 8. While Mikolas rewarded the Cardinals with a solid effort, his teammates failed to return the favor, waiting until after he was removed from the game to put the winning runs on the board. He'll look to continue this momentum into his next scheduled start, slated to take place at home in a tough matchup against the Padres.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Bailed out by offense

Mikolas came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-5 win over the Royals, giving up five runs on eight hits over four innings. He struck out three without walking a batter. The veteran righty cruised through the first two innings before giving up three straight hits to begin the third as the wheels came off. Mikolas got the hook after 78 pitches (51 strikes) and was in line for his 10th loss of the year until the Cardinals rallied late. Since blanking the Nationals on July 8 over 6.1 innings, Mikolas has been in a tailspin, stumbling to a 7.11 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB over his last five starts and 25.1 innings. He'll try to turn things around in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Dodgers.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Hit around by Cubs

Mikolas (8-9) took the loss Sunday against the Cubs, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings. Mikolas kept the Cubs off the board through three innings but would go on to allow two runs in the fourth and was charged with an additional two in the fifth after failing to get an out in the frame. Mikolas has now allowed at least seven hits in five of his last seven starts and Sunday tied his shortest outing of the season. The 35-year-old owns a 5.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 86:22 K:BB in 128.1 innings. He lines up for another start against the Royals on the road this weekend.

  • Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Submits quality start

Mikolas allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three over six innings in a no-decision versus the Nationals on Sunday. Mikolas left with the Cardinals behind by a run, but they tied the game in the seventh inning and walked it off in the ninth. The veteran right-hander posted a quality start in four of his five outings in July, though his efforts were tarnished a bit by a six-run mishap versus the Cubs just before the All-Star break. He's now at a 4.99 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 83:20 K:BB through 124.1 innings over 22 starts this season. Mikolas is projected to make his next start at Wrigley Field against the Cubs.
