Dodgers' Jose Urena: Set to lose 40-man roster spot
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Monday's 8-6 extra-inning win over the Padres that Urena will be designated for assignment prior to Tuesday's contest, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Urena made two appearances after signing with the Dodgers, allowing one run over three innings out of the bullpen. The veteran right-hander has already pitched for three different clubs this season and could draw interest from a fourth looking for swingman depth.

Dodgers' Jose Urena: Joins Dodgers on MLB deal
Urena signed a one-year major-league contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Urena was DFA'd by Toronto on Saturday after turning in a 3.65 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 12.1 innings with the team. He opted for free agency upon clearing waivers and will now join forces with Los Angeles to help out a Dodgers bullpen that has been decimated by injuries. Jose Urena: Signing with Dodgers
The Dodgers are expected to sign Urena prior to Tuesday's game against the Mets, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
The deal isn't official, but Heyman says Urena is on his way to Los Angeles and will be in uniform for the second game of a four-game series versus the Mets. Urena has allowed 10 runs with an 8:4 K:BB over 15.1 innings between the Blue Jays and Mets this season and will give the Dodgers some length in the bullpen.

The right-hander threw 35 pitches (24 strikes), which could leave him unavailable to provide any length out of the bullpen when Eric Lauer makes his next scheduled start Friday in Tampa Bay. Urena has a 4.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 3:3 K:BB in 9.1 innings over four appearances (two starts) since joining the Blue Jays, but he seems unlikely to be a factor in the team's rotation any time soon, given his recent usage.

Urena was making his second start with the Blue Jays after giving up two runs over 4.1 innings to the Angels on Tuesday. He made it just once through the Mariners' lineup Sunday, which looks like it may have been planned -- he threw 31 pitches (19 strikes) in this outing compared to 74 pitches Tuesday. Urena elected to become a free agent Thursday after being DFA'd by the Mets, and it didn't take long for him to find a new home north of the border.
