Phillies' Alan Rangel: Returns to minors
The Phillies optioned Rangel to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.
Rangel had just been called up from the minors Friday, and he gave the Phillies three innings of work against Pittsburgh that night, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one batter. The righty reliever's return to Triple-A makes room for Philadelphia to call up a fresh bullpen arm from the minors in Daniel Robert.

Phillies' Alan Rangel: Headed to big leagues
The Phillies recalled Rangel from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.
Rangel will provide some immediate help to the Phillies' bullpen ahead of Friday's bullpen game against the Pirates. He'll be making his MLB debut if he gets into a game. The 27-year-old has a 5.02 ERA in 57.1 innings spanning 12 starts for Lehigh Valley this season. Seth Johnson was optioned in a corresponding move.

Phillies' Alan Rangel: Optioned to Triple-A
The Phillies optioned Rangel to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Rangel made two appearances for the Phillies in spring training and allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out two across three innings. He'll begin the 2025 regular season in Triple-A, but the 27-year-old reliever could see some time in the majors at some point this season if the Phillies need to bolster their bullpen.

Phillies' Alan Rangel: Contract selected
The Phillies selected Rangel's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.
Rangel, 27, held a 4.30 ERA and 25:8 K:BB over 29.1 innings with Lehigh Valley this season. He has yet to make an appearance at the big-league level, but the Phillies didn't want him to walk as a minor-league free agent.

Rangel, 26, posted a 4.61 ERA and 140:50 K:BB over 127 innings between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett in Atlanta's organization this past season. The right-hander spent a brief period of time in the majors in 2022 but never made an appearance.

Braves' Alan Rangel: Sent back to minors
Atlanta optioned Rangel to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Unless Atlanta loses another pitcher to an injury or needs a fresh arm out of the bullpen in the final week of the season, Rangel is unlikely to resurface in the majors again in 2022. The 25-year-old right-hander didn't get the chance to make his MLB debut after being called up from Double-A Mississippi on Saturday, but he already picked up his fair share of work in the minors this season. He started 26 games for Mississippi, turning in a 5.26 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 139:50 K:BB across 114.2 frames.

Braves' Alan Rangel: Called up Saturday
Rangel was recalled from Double-A Mississippi on Saturday.
Rangel has spent the year at Mississippi and has posted a 5.26 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 114.2 innings over 26 starts. Although he's served exclusively as a starter in the minors this year, it's possible that he takes on a long-relief role for Atlanta since Bryce Elder is available to claim a rotation spot after Spencer Strider (oblique) was placed on the 15-day injured list.
